To use witch hazel on your hemorrhoids, you would first get a cotton swab or some other soft item, such as a paper cloth or a wash rag that you will saturate with the witch hazel. After you wet the swab or cloth, you should place the wet item over the hemorrhoids. Either lie down or hold this in place for about two to three minutes. Get a clean cotton swab or a clean part of the washrag and repeat this process. Do this a few times a day as needed. Overnight, the swelling should become reduced as well as the pain.
